GEA, a Turkey-based international Search & Rescue group, was among the first and fastest organizations to respond to massive earthquakes that struck central regions of the country in February 2023 – deploying its volunteers to 118 debris sites and rescuing 41 survivors over ten intense days of initial deployment.
This response marked GEA’s single largest mobilization in its 29-year history.
However, this impressive intervention came at a cost – in terms of damage to the plant and equipment GEA’s volunteer teams rely on to respond to earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters the world over.
If this equipment is not repaired or replaced, it will compromise GEA’s ability to respond to future disasters.
This program allows GEA to take stock of its current Search & Rescue inventory, and then repair or replace critical equipment damaged in its heroic response to the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey.
This program will cover the entire range of specialist equipment required at rubble-site interventions, including site-communications and detection equipment, hydraulic winches, concrete cutters, medical supplies, generators, arc lighting – and finally, but not least – rescue outfits for GEA’s volunteers.
