ShelterBox is expert when it comes to crises of this sort, with humanitarian aid resources pre-positioned in warehouses around the world, ready for immediate deployment.
For those Sudanese refugees crossing into Chad, ShelterBox is distributing emergency shelter and life-saving aid items, currently targeting an estimated 30,000 people.
A new camp has been established near the Sudanese border in eastern Chad, to act as a base for refugees. While providing emergency shelter is a primary objective, ShelterBox is also distributing essential household items, including sleeping mats, water carriers, mosquito nets, solar lamps, kitchen sets and sanitary products to improve refugees’ quality of life and dignity.
ShelterBox is providing the materials needed to build semi – permanent structures alongside tents that are being used to shelter refugees as they first enter the refugee camp and to act as safe spaces for women who have experienced gender based violence.
