Long-term conflicts in the Palestinian Territories and Israel, and more recent civil wars in Iraq and Syria, have resulted in the rapid growth of refugee numbers over recent decades.

In particular, Jordan and Lebanon have received an overwhelming number of Syrian refugees that has further stressed their national infrastructures, worsening pre-existing domestic problems such as water scarcity.

A new partner of the JTI Foundation, RedR UK, who will be implementing a package of 24 training courses delivered across the region, will manage the program. RedR UK is an international humanitarian NGO and a leading provider of training to the humanitarian sector.

The objective of this program is to improve International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs’), National Non-Governmental Organizations (NNGOs’), Community Based Organizations (CBOs’) and relevant Government Agencies disaster management, and disaster risk reduction knowledge and skills in the Middle East, giving participating organizations the capacity to operate in a more effective and sustainable manner.
260 staff will participate in 24 training courses tailored to the specific needs of individual organizations in the region. The skills they receive will improve capacity, knowledge and skills to support their communities in crisis.

The indirect beneficiaries of this program will be the communities that these agencies work with across the region.
